Covid -19

COVID 19 is a condition that can lead to death and is highly transmissible. To this end Shenstone Hall along with all other services has learnt to live with the risk s associated with COVID 19 and has measures in place to ensure Shenstone Hall reduces the risk of it entering the home.

Shenstone Hall continues to follow national and local guidance and is vigilant to the potential for entry to the home. We have policies and risk assessments in place which are reviewed on a regular basis

As a team we are extremely proud of our Covid - 19 free status

There are multiple systems in place in relation to infection control, some of our measures include;

Regular hand washing for residents and staff

Thorough cleaning throughout the day in addition to normal cleaning routines

Additional training for staff to reduce the number of health care professionals on site

Regular reviews of national and local guidance

Our fantastic Housekeepers do a great job keeping Shenstone Hall clean and free from infection

Visits to loved ones

As a care provider , we understand  Shenstone Hall has a great responsibility to ensure the health, well being and safety of its residents and staff

We understand Covid -19 has had a detrimental effect on the families and friends who wish to see loved ones and spend time with them. It is particularly made difficult with the guidance from government to stop all visits to care homes to ensure residents safety.

At Shenstone Hall we  have constantly reviewed our policy based on national and local guidance and in doing so liaised with family and points of contact for individual residents

The latest guidance  on 31.01.2022 has brought about great changes to families and friends.

Shenstone Hall needs to risk assess visits to the home, we ask that family and friends contact the home to inform of an am or pm visit . There is protected meal times.

Visits take place is identified areas to reduce the risk of interacting with other residents.

You are required to be double vaccinated to enter the home and proof must be provided, a lateral test is required before each visit and these tests can be obtained at the office for self administration

We do uphold the right to decline visits within the home if a lateral test is negative but the visitor has symptoms and the pod would be used for visiting .

The use of PPE is mandatory

There is a full  policy available

Some family comments during this period of exceptional circumstance

Dear Sue Dawn and all of the staff,

It seems so very long ago since Mothers Day and my last visit to Shenstone Hall and an awful  of things have happened since that day. The news and press continue to highlight what a crazy and dangerous world we are in at the moment and the only thing we can do is to continue as requested.

I miss my mum and seeing everyone and I have much appreciated the photographs. I cannot fully understand the pressures you are all under but I know that you will be working very hard to maintain what Shenstone Hall stands for. I send my heartfelt thanks to you all, not just for caring and keeping my mum safe, but also all the other wonderful residents I've got to know.

Each Thursday Night we join the country in thanking the NHS and Care Staff who are front line people in this disaster. Every time I specifically think of you too, To everyone, please take care of yourselves and if there is anything I can do , please do not hesitate to contact me.

Love and best wishes

Dear Dawn and Sue

We have been thinking of you all so  much these past weeks and months

I tried to phone a few times but I know you are so busy  and decided to write a note instead.

M tells me you  keeping Covid free, thank goodness and we hope all the staff and residents keep well.

As soon as we can, we will visit again, as we will never forget your kindness to Mum and those weeks when you looked after her at the end with such devotion. It is still very fresh in our minds.

Every week we did the clap for Carers and P played music and sang on the pavement outside, for our neighbours! You were always in our thoughts

Please pass on our love to everyone and hope it wont be too long before we can see you all again

With Love  S & P   15.07.2020.
