Respite Care

Shenstone Hall offers Respite/ Holiday Care

This may be for people who need extra support following an operation, illness or their regular carer is taking a break.

At Shenstone Hall we understand being a carer is a very demanding role. Respite care gives the opportunity for carers to spend some time taking account of their own needs, in the knowledge that a loved one is receiving the very best care. Respite is also an opportunity for the client to meet new people and offers the chance to join in new activities, in effect have a holiday of their own.

At Shenstone Hall we assess  each persons needs and devise a care plan based around those needs. The team of staff we have in place will support the individuals in aspects of care  including, personal care, emotional, physical and social needs. We encourage clients to maintain independence whilst with us and this is promoted when delivering care where appropriate. Any special diets and cultural requirements will be met by our catering team to ensure nutritional and hydration needs are maintained.

We take time to get to know the client and visit the home so we can see the environment to ensure a smooth transition into respite.
Each client will have their own bedroom, which they are able to personalize with photographs and important items from home to help create a familiar environment.

We operate an open door visiting protocol. We do ask that between the hours of noon and 13.30 we do not have visitors, this is our lunch time period and some of our residents require verbal or and physical assistance. I hope you can appreciate that to disturb  mealtimes may result in the resident not eating and to recommence this activity is often met with refusal.

We encourage clients to partake in social and recreational activities.
